I no longer talk to half the people on that list over there <--!
The thing that gets me about the near death of Xanga is that nothing that I've seen has sufficiently taken its place. For instance, neither myspace nor facebook's blogging systems really seem to stack up to the pure simplicity of Xanga's system, and as such I've not seen many people keeping journals with said systems. So, why did everyone abandon their e-journals? Maybe they didn't really want to keep them in the first place, it was just the thing to do. It's a possibility.
